Just got a 1953 Super C and am just completed a tune up and fluid change.
I installed my 5' brush-hog and noticed that the hydraulic lift is very "jerky" going up or down. I also noticed that the hydraulic system applies pressure down as well as lifting the implement up. Seems like this would be hard on the mower in trying to let the mower float.
Is there a control valve on this tractor? With the mower raised, you can turn off the motor and lower the touch control, but the mower does not drop. It stays put until the motor is started again.
I haven't cleaned the screen (if there is one), but I have changed the hydraulic fluid. Shop manual is on the way.
