You've done all the right stuff George. Only have one more suggestion: Temporarily jumper the regulator base to ground. Clip one end to the ground braid on the regulator base (lower right side of photo) and the other end direct to the grounded battery post. Make sure the jumper has good terminations - use good alligator clips at both ends. If the generator now charges, install a permanent ground jumper to the regulator base. I suggest this because had a similar experience with my SH last month. Turned out the regulator mounting bracket had some ground resistance despite being solidly bolted to the tractor frame. The ground was good enough to get the cutout relay to pull in, but insufficient to pass the couple amps of field current necessary for the generator to charge. I replaced the regulator twice, swapped generators, etc. before trying the ground jumper out of desperation. The instant the jumper made the connection, the system began working perfectly. Another lesson learned the hard way...
