Thank you Hobo! The part in your picture with the yellow LH on it is what I'm missing - I believe its the outer seal?
The springs are practically new - the P.O. put new brake shoes on less than a year before I bought it. Of course, the practically new shoes are now junk because when the pin broke on the support plate it wedged the cobbeld "wing thingy" and the stub of the pin between the cam shaft and the shoes, which bent and severly gouged the half round pivot part of the shoes. I'll probably get new springs with the new shoes. I might try beating them back straight, but I dunno how well that will work.
One more question - the bolts at the 12:00 and 6:00 position - do they thread into something inside the assembly, or go all the way through and get nuts like the studs?
