Well I screwed up.
I travelled to Kansas City to pick up a pair of Jersey heifer calves that the seller claimed were two weeks old. I got there and the calves were closer to two days old. Turns out they came from a huge dairy somewhere in Missouri and these people buy 10 or 20 a crack and resell them. I had serious reservations when I heard that but I had already driven 90 miles and had spent a couple weeks looking and these were exactly what we'd been trying to find for both sons to use as 4H calves. Both calves looked healthy but I found they had scours when I was unloading them. I treated them with Terramycin scour tablets for two days and they seemed to be fine.
The day after I stopped treatment one of them went from doing great in the morning to being so sick it couldn't stand by evening and by night fall it couldn't even raise its head. I figured it was a goner but I went through the motions to try and save it since the kids were devastated. Gave it a shot of Liquamycin and started the scour tablets again. The scours were back and are almost clear liquid at this stage. Much to my surprise the next morning she was up and wanted to eat. I am continuing the scour tablets and the Liquamycin along with giving it a half bottle of electrolytes at noon but she's actually starting to look worse than she did the morning of her miraculous recovery and after two days of loading her up with meds her scours are just as bad as they were the day she went down.

After numerous dead ends for a replacement carb, I went to work fixing mine.I soldered new floats on the float arm, they came from an old motorcycle carb, replaced the packing on the throttle shaft with o-rings, cut new ga
