Well guys I just hate LIARS!!!!!
I knew Fawteen was off in his price but I did not have time this morning to research the issue. I did this evening and I posted back about it.
First Fawteen's parts. He said Quote"
My 24 year old 750 compact needs it's first set of brake shoes. Mother Deere: $212.98 per side, or $425.96
Compact Tractor Parts: $23.95 each or $95.80
Questions anyone?"
My reply this evening. "Here are the facts. The original part number was CH15072 and it was for each shoe individually. That number subs over to M805735 which is a "SHOE & LINING ASSY" for $106.14 each. You only need two of them so they are $212.28 you don't need four of them!!! Also I called an old friend that work in JD parts warehouse in Milan, IL. I had him go put one of the assemblies off the shelf. It is two new shoes."
So Fawteen was off by double on his pricing.
Then Ray posted this down below that: "That little plastic fuse holder for a 1010 john Deere is 130 bucks through Deere,or 2 bucks through NAPA."
Well that is a falsehood too.
Here is part of my reply post to that this evening. " JD 1010 fuse holder complete. AT 14193 full list price $58.96
Go to www.jdparts.com and see if I am telling you the truth!!!!!
So Ray was blowing smoke too.
So the reason I get real PO is that people have to ride down a good company. Then they use lies and half truths to make their point. If JD is so bad then why is over half of all the equipment sold in the USA made by JD ????? JD company, JD dealerships, and JD equipment have given me a job for much of my adult life. I have been treated well by both the company and the dealerships in that time. Has it all be roses??? No, but it has been positive 95% of the time!!!
As for the treatment you get at a dealership. My local JD store is now one of a chain of nine different stores. It is three miles east of me. I have another 9 miles to the west of me. (They used to be owned buy the same fellow) I have never worked at either of these stores. I actually worked for their competition all of the years I was at a JD store. I buy almost all of my JD parts there. They give a little volume discount and I pay cash/check twice each month so there is no credit card cost to them. The parts and service guys have always treated me great. I try to make their job as easy as possible. I try to have every part looked up so all they need to do is get them for me. Like I said GREAT GREAT Service.
Just last week my BIL back in Ohio was working on his JD 1370 Mower conditioner's cutter bar. He had boughten over $2500 worth of parts at the local JD store to fix this machine. He went and asked them just how to time the disks as he was putting the cutter bar back together. They told him to just put them at 90* to each other than that was it. They really did not help him much. He called me. I did not have a service book on that machine. I called my local dealership. I got to the service manager. I asked him if he was busy. He said not right at the moment. I told him the whole story about what was going on. I asked him if I could look at his service manual. He told me to come in anytime. I was hauling feed at the time so it was the next day before I got there. I went to the service manager to see his book. He told me he could not find his paper manual. So he used his service adviser computer program and printed me out the entire section that out lined the assembly of the cutter bar on the JD 1370. It was over thirty pages. I offered to pay for all of that an he told me not to worry about it. His store/shop did not make a single dime on this and he was more than helpful. I mailed the pages to my BIL and he was thankful. I told the service and parts guys to be ready to eat today. I had five large pizzas and a case of pop delivered to them for their lunch. They have helped me many times so I thought that I should show my appreciation for their service.
So that was fresh on my mind when I read Fawteens post. It just seemed like a slap in the face to the good fellows that work at the JD dealerships that have usually always helped me.
As for the guys that think that my postings are not for here. I bet that I talk some one through a repair at least one each week. I offer to email just about anyone that is having an issue. Most of them I give my cell phone number so I can help them direct. So maybe I don't stay on subject like some would like but I bet that I help "fix" more equipment problems than many on here.
