The bales are out in the open where they dropped out of baler so they get good air ciculation and sun. The ones last year were so bad they ended up at the mushroom farms for mulch,if something doesn't change I guess these will too. The cows pick through, but only eat about half. The bales I moved this spring to send for mulch held up and were still in good shape but mold in about a foot from each end.
