Not gonna attempt to answer your ???, but where are they setting (sun/wind/shade)? I left a few out a couple years ago. 4 or 5 in a place open as far as sun, breeze, etc and a couple maybe 500 ft away, maybe 50 ft lower and mostly shade with little breeze. They were shot in a couple or so weeks to the point that the horses wouldn't touch them and I gave them to a neighbor with cows who ended up throwing most away. All came from the same little field on the same day (cut). Ones in the sun and breeze were perfect maybe an inch deep...
