So, the RV with the 454 Vortec Chevy started a bit of Hydraulic Lifter Clik n Clak (The Tappett Brothers) noise upon start up (quits after a bit) AND I DONT TOLERATE SUCH ANTICS IN MY RV......I run Mobil 1 oil with one quart of Lucas Synthetic Stabilizer sooooooo I add a quart of Rislone and the problem for the most part goes away, the Rislones not been in there very many miles at all and now it only occassionally cliks n claks on starting and dont last very long.
QUESTION how long should I run it with the Rislone in place before I change oil as that stuff is a pretty high detergent. (It has like 2000 miles since last oil change now) Im going to Texas in a couple months and dont know if I should drive there n back (prob 2200 miles) or change it before I go maybe after a few more hundred miles on RV (by then the Rislone should have done its job if its going to.) I THINK I LIKE THAT IDEA, RUN IT A FEW HUNDRED MILES THEN CHANGE BEFORE TEXAS ?????????
Im sort of obsessed with my RV maintenance as some know, just today I crawled under it with a rag and wiped each n every zerk and u joint and anything that even resembled a drop of oil (actually there werent any but I clean all anyway at least once a month) you can almost white glove the front end and engine and tranny pans yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy I have it pulled out of the shed in sunlight today so I can watch the charging ammeter on my solar panels and the battery voltage on my four house batteries sit there at maybe 13.1 to 13.4 (or more) depending on their charge state.
