With the recent posts about locomotives and all, I was remembering how the nearby city of Troy had quite a bit of rail traffic, this footage is incredible, for me to view, as I know the area well, and do recall some of the infrastructure, as well as the line still being active, but it was well after much of it was taken out, essentially in the center of the city, but the line was still active on each side. I remember hearing these trains as a youngster, always thought they were so much closer, though a few miles away, the sound carried to the farm.
Some of the bridges I remember, and that tunnel shown, I have been in, during its final demolition, I have a brick from it, from the actual ceiling, an archway.
The narrator sure remembers everything and he sounds great, thought y'all might want to see it, late 50's. Sad part of it is where they took down the awesome station.
Now the next link, at about the 1 minute mark or, so just this guy cracks me up, (Warning:there are some f bombs by this retired railroad worker).
Were people all like this, of that generation, per the response he gave the guy he was talking to, after being asked if he worked for the railroad. LOL, just cracks me up as if it was highly insulting to have asked the question.
