Very good questions Leroy, here's my engineers perspective, which as is typical, pretty well is in agreement with Bobs excellent advice apparently from a Delco publication, and Delco and their literature are generally pretty darn accurate in my opinion:
1) Is there ant wat to tell what a condensor out of package is for?
Not really unless and until you determine the actual value of the condenser as many that are approximately the same size and appearance can have quite different values. NOTE That's NOT to say they cant work to some extent, although if not the optimal correct size (to match the coils inductance and other parameters) the points will deteriorate prematurely.
2) Would a condensor for a Ford 2N work in Delco 6 Volt system on a Deere or the other way around?
Again, sure it can "work" but that's NOT the ideal condition you want to operate under. If its the correct value the point surfaces will be less prone to perhaps pitting on one side and developing a build up on the other.
3) In other words are condensors model specific?
YES even if two look the same they can have different values and ideally the values correspond to the coils inductance. AND DIFFERENT COILS AND ESPECIALLY MAGNETOS HAVE DIFFERENT INDUCTANCE NECESSITATING A DIFFERENT CONDENSOR VLAUE SO AS TO IMPROVE POINTS LONGEVITY.
So, while a rookie or Billy Bob may claim "they're all the same no problem use them they will work fine" THATS JUST NOT AN ENGINEERING FACT. The facts are sure they will "work" the coil will still produce a spark unless the condenser is way too big (no spark at all) or way too small (still a spark but weaker and points burn up sooner) BUT IF THE CONDENSOR IS SIZED PROPERLY THE POINTS WILL LAST LONGER WITH LESS SEVERE PITTING (one side) AND BUILD UP (on other side).
So its your money and your choice not ours so do as yall please, fine by me.
John T Long retired electrical engineer and rusty on this so NO WARRANTY, IM NOT SAYING THIS IS RIGHT IM NOT SAYING ITS WRONG, just one old electrical engineers opinion, take or leave it as you wish. BUT I RECOMMEND YOU USE A CONDENSOR OF THE RIGHT RATING IF YOU DONT WANT THE POINTS TO DETERIORATE PREMATURELY !!!!!!!!!!!!

Today's Featured Article - Talk of the Town: What's The "Stuckest" You've Ever Been? - by Edited by Kim Pratt. Another great discussion from the Tractor Talk Discussion Forum. The discussion started out with the following post: "I was about 14 (part of the problem) when I got stuck. I was disking with a cab equipped IH 966. The window was dirty and I was driving into the evening sun. It was hard to see and it was my first pass down the field. I got the tractor so stuck that the underside of the tractor was resting on the ground. My uncle wanted
