Thanks John. So if I would put it in and tractor would start then I would know the old one was bad and then just be able to go and buy a new one that I know is correct. If would not it could still be condensor but could also be something different. About a couple of years ago had same no start problem and had a new condensor and point kit that I had laying around for 10 years and then it started and ran for about a year, found no power to coil and installed a different ignation switch, heavy duty auto parts universal switch and have good power now. Tractor has been getting harder to start all the time. A mechanic said it is slightly off time. was going to work on it sat as on the 2N board I found out finally how the in distributor timing was to be set. It is exactly where it was set 15 years ago acording to the paint. So it had not changed. No wear in distributor, if was tighter would not move. so no start has to be either in ignition or carb as engine has good compression. Orignal 6 volt system.
