As a hobby farmer and only mildly-qualified mechanic, I have found the Deere online parts system to work very well. I can figure out the parts I need and place the online order. My dealer (15 miles away, one of 16 in a super group) has a desire to increase internet orders.
The parts manager will email me about the order, so I usually email him when I place the order to tell him if it needs to be rush shipped (rarely for me) or I can pick it up in a couple of days. One of the other parts guys lives a couple of miles away and has offered to drop them off on his way home, he often does for my neighbor, a 4-500 acre part-timer. He used to be parts manager for a now-closed IH dealer nearby, so he knows his red stuff.
When I snapped the shaft to engage the PTO on my 5400, I was having a hard time visualizing the geometry of the shaft/spring since I had not paid much attention to it when whole. The counter guy brought out the service manual and we went through it right there, then he asked a mechanic to explain it further to me.
Support aside, I think the best piece of farm equipment I have ever bought is my 2355N

I credit my parents for instilling a lot of good values, a respect for learning, a knowledge of various skills and a little knowledge of farming in me, amo
