Interesting and expected. Now disconnect the F terminal on the VR. Measure resistance from ground to terminal if near or at infinity (not zero 0) the regulator is not working. The generator is grounded to the frame of the tractor. The armature is grounded to the tractor through the grounded brush. The non grounded brushes are grounded through the armature windings and though they have a little resistance, they have not enough to read on a ohm meter unless it is very sensitive. The field voltage source is connected to the third brush, and will test grounded with a meter. the field windings also have resistance, but won't show on a meter. so with all wires in place, the entire field circuit will appear grounded, and it did. Everything is pointing to a bad or non grounded regulator. Jim
