First I want to thank all the people who responded to my prayer request. What a bunch of great people you are. And I thank the people that did not respond as there was nothing else to say that wasn't already said, but said a prayer anyway. I usually do that. It was a little overwhelming. Here is some praise for the staff I encountered at Iowa Methodist. Everyone of them were kind caring and competent. Too often they go without the justified credit due to them. And everyone should remember that (using football terms) it takes everyone from the towel boys, janitors, and waterboys to support the big name players. It is the same for every successful team. Especially in a hospital. I guess they started cutting to get to all the broken pieces that Humpty Dumpty provided around 2 p.m. Wednesday. I did not see any of the kings horses or any of the kings men show up to help. I don't remember anything till about 6. I kind of made up for the sleep I didn't get last nite. The doctor told my son and sister that it went pretty well. If he told me he wasted his breath and pretty much said that I would not remember anything at that point in the pre-op conference. We got out of the hospital in Des Moines right at 730. For you military people that is 1930 hours. LOL. We went to Marshalltown and grabbed supper. The restaurant was right next to Walgreens. I had checked earlier to see how late the pharmacist was on duty. The machine was right when it told me 10 p.m. as there were 2 ladies working behind the counter at about 9 when we got there.I got my drugs and we went the 25 miles north to home by about 10. I called my parents and texted my sister and another son the status of things. I have a bunch more people to inform tomorrow. I hope things continue to go as well as they did today. The only complaint I have at this point is that the back of my throat is a little raw from the breathing tube. I was warned about that earlier. Since I have been confined it isn't unusual for me to see Ken from Mn posts before I go to bed. Once in awhile I see Jon from Mn chuckle of the day. I am a little wired tonite and Don't expect to go to sleep for another couple of hours. God bless you all. IARoy

Today's Featured Article - Grain Threshing in the Early 40's - by Jerry D. Coleman. How many of you can sit there and say that you have plowed with a mule? Well I would say not many, but maybe a few. This story is about the day my Grandfather Brown (true name) decided along with my parents to purchase a new Ford tractor. It wasn't really new except to us. The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
