Hello everyone. My family has a Steiger Cougar II that's been sitting for about 8 years. We believe it stopped running because of a bad injector pump. We're not as familiar with Steigers as we'd like to be, and no one has had the time to work on it and figure it out until recently. Last fall, we tried to put some work into it and, while we prepared to take the injector pump off, we tried to take care of any issues that might have arisen since the tractor's been sitting this long. Everything went okay until we pulled it out of its resting place and found that the clutch was very stuck. We've taken the clutch access cover off and sprayed lube on some of the parts. We've towed the tractor in gear for multiple laps around the barnyard whilst working the clutch pedal, but with no success. Eventually we had to stop doing that because without power, the steering finally stopped working. Then we got busy with harvest and the project was abandoned again, much to everyone's discouragement.
My Dad is afraid that the only way to unstick the clutch now is to take the cab off, crane the transmission out, free up the clutch, and put everything back together again. That's not a task we're looking forward to at all. So, before we do that or avoid working on it for any more years, I thought I'd ask online to see if someone on here knows something we don't, or has any ideas that haven't occurred to us. I'll be glad of any wisdom or light on the subject that anyone here can share.

Today's Featured Article - Trailering Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. One of the fun things of summer and fall are the parades and tractor shows that go on across America. Many owners of tractors travel long distances to attend these shows and they usually take their restored iron along with them. Safe trailering practices and inspections will ensure that the event is a fun one. A good habit to develop when using a trailer is to give that ‘quick look over’ before taking it on a trip. Before hooking up to it check the tongue for proper operation. The latche
