It's not a lack of ground, I have run an auxiliary ground wire right to the starter. Anyway I've had the starter off three occasions this last week. I opened it up and checked the brushes and polished the commutator. It still won't run testing it on the bench. Since I had the starter overhauled in 2018 it's been doing a lot better however I've had to replace the brushes once since then. Probably don't have more than about 100 hours on the tractor since 2018. I think the starters are just too wimpy for that tractor. What has helped the tractor hard starting more than anything is I put the biggest battery in the tractor that would fit.
I believe the place I used was Advanced Starter Service in Dallas.
