Yesterday I attended the Covey Trust farm auction held NW of Moran,KS..The 1968 Miss America Debra Barnes was from Moran and her Dad was the John Deere dealer there..The wind was blowing a gale when I left home and it got worse when I got west of Ft Scott,KS..It had to be over 50 mph at times and it was hard to hold the Ford Ranger on the road...It rained a little just as I got to the sale...The wind continued blowing all day long from 25 to over 40 miles per hour at times...A gust almost blew the auctioneer down when he was selling from the top of a trailer..We were supposed to get severe weather in the evening but it never happened..We did get .65 of rain early this morning..On Thursday afternoon with a 20% chance we got 1 inch of much needed rain...Just south of me a 30 mile long strip got 2-3 of rain with hail....The hail was so deep 15 miles southeast of me that snow plows had to get it off Hwy 97...It was 8-10 deep along with a 3 inch rain in 1 hour...It tore up some Amish green houses.

This was a huge sale with 4 large trailer loads of stuff and lots of stuff on the ground...There were so many wrenches, sockets-etc that it took 2 hours to sell one trailer...They should have ran 2 rings..The sale finally got over at site one around 5 PM and we went 3 miles northeast to site 2 which got done at 6 PM.

I'm west of Ft Scott,KS on Hwy 54 heading to NW of Moran,KS for the sale...They've been working on the 2 lane RR overpass just east of Moran for nearly one year now which is ridiculous...I know the short way thru the country around it...A much larger 4 lane RR overpass was rebuilt in my town in less than 7 months..It just got finished 2 weeks ago.

The 1981 JD 4440 sold for $24,000...It needed tires and had lots of hours...It was on its 2nd tach..Engine was rebuilt at 8000 hours..The drawbar hole was badly worn.

The 1975 White 2-105 sold for $7,200..It had 5161 hours on a rebuilt engine.

The 1972 AC 180 gas sold for $4,250...It had 7981 hours..

The WD-45 Allis gas torn down sold for $450.

The WD allis at site 2 sold for $425.

The 4620 JD at site 2 sold for $4,400..It hadn't ran in 12-15 years..It showed 7239 hours..
I would have loved to had the 20.8x38 duals behind it as they were perfect for tractor pulling
but they went with the tractor.

Stuck Allis C with cultivator sold for $425.

2007 Chevy 2500 HD 4x4 with like new tires and 2 year old Chandler bale bed sold for $7,100..
It had 322,000 miles and even though it drives it will soon need the tranny replaced..

The 1977 Chevy Bonanza with 400 V-8,automatic sold for $2,100.

I'll be back in awhile with 10 more pics..

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing. ... [Read Article]
