Ford 2N seems to be getting too much voltage to the coil. It's a 12v system. The moving contact of the points on the plastic/fiber arm "slips" outward toward the end of the arm. It's almost like it's getting hot, melting the plastic/fiber arm allowing the contact to "slip". I assumed the ballast resistor was bad so I replaced it. Installed new points, time and adjusted gap. Tractor ran great for about 10 or 15 minutes. Bogged down, spite, sputtered, died. Same thing happened to points. Any ideas? My new resistor bad? I'm perplexed and need to get this thing running.
