I am in the process of converting my 9N to 12V. I was told by the auto parts store where I had a GM alternator converted to a single wire with a built-in voltage regulator, that I did not need a ballast resistor, and that the built-in regulator would take care of reducing the voltage to the coil and distributor. Is that correct, or will I need a resistor. I would hate to burn out the coil. Thanks for any help.
