As reported above, the gasoline and LP versions are probalby less expensive to buy. I prefer the diesel, but I wouldn't hesitate on a good buy for the gasoline version. Unless I was set with LP already, I don't think I would want an LP tractor of any make. I wouldn't want the hassle of fueling it. (Check on the availability of LP before you buy one!) But then, if you buy a diesel, you'll have to get set up for that, too. (But there's no problem with availablility.) My experience suggests that your will get more satisfaction from a diesel if you get one in good working order. It will be harder to start, especially in cold weather, but judicious use of ether and/or an electric coolant heater will solve that problem. Fact is, diesel tractors of all makes are more fuel efficient. Diesel engines are also, in general, more heavily built and more durable than their spark-ignited cousins, especially in applications such as heavy duty trucks and larger tractors (like 4020's).
