You need at least one helper to turn the engine or PTO shaft (whatever is easier). Put both the PTO and the transmission in gear. Try to turn the engine over, either with a wrench on the nut near the crank pulley (if any) or by turning the PTO shaft (don't mess up the splines). It should be really hard to turn because of the transmission. Now put the clutch in slowly. At some point the PTO and engine should turn together without the transmission turning. If you never reach this point then you don't have a 2 stage clutch.
