I was looking through the old articles and laughing at all of the "Boy was I stuck" stories, and I started thinking about a day back in 1977. I was hired to milk about 130 of the neighbors cows so him and his wife could go out on Saturday nights. It was fun for a High School kid, plus it paid well. Anyway, I was in the milk house when my neihbors girlfriend of about 25 came walking in, in Denim shorts and a tank top (she looked really good). Anyway. She said "I got Mike's (the neighbor) tractor stuck, and I was ondering if you could help me get it out. Well the cows were full, and mooing there heads off, so I told her I'd come over after the milking was done. She stayed and helped, and when we were done, I unhooked a Massey Ferguson 185 from the manure spreader, and away we went. She was sittin next to me on the fender, and I could hardly keep my eyes on the road. I was thinking about how I could be the hero. Remember being 17? Anyway, imagine my surprise when I turned into a field, and here was a giant John Deere Articulated Four Wheel Drive tractor, with Duals all around, sitting on the axles. Now to most of us, it would have been Game Over. But at 17, I thought I could do anything, including my wealthy neighbor's.....well nevermind about that. I hooked on with a chain, and promptly buried the MF (Massey Ferguson ) to the Axles. When they brought the Bulldozer two days later to pull out the JD, they pulled out that MF as well. All my neighbors heard about it. When they'd see me on my bike they'd stop and say "Hey can you pedal over on your bike, my truck needs a tow. Ha! Ha!" Those were the days!
