I need a smart guy to help me get rid of my idiot light (temperature) on my '74 Ford 4000 with a 3 cylinder diesel. The sending unit hole is too small to allow a mechanical temp gage to be installed. Oil pressure was easy-I just screwed in an elbow and added fittings until I got to the right size. Temp is different-the sending unit needs to be imersed in the coolant stream. Does anyone know of any mechanical gages with small sending units? I've added a gage but it doesn't register anything until the temp gets to a certain point and then the gage pegs. This makes me nervous on a 100 degree day pulling a round bailer. Thanks for any advice. I posted this on the Ford page but got no response.
