Well, Pasture, when mentioned by real estate sales people tends to mean land suitable for the grqazing of livestock: cattle, sheep, goats and more likely in the case of a city type of guy moving out to the country, HORSES. Such land is usually either already timber, hilly, has gullys, or some other reason for it to be not "tillable". "Tillable" land is just that---you can plant it to crops such as corn, soybeans, alfalfa, Red clover, oats, wheat, cotton, peanuts or sugarbeets, depending on location. Land discribed as "tillable" will most likely have no buildings, trees or other obstructions. Pasture CAN also be tillable. You can even consider flat, cropland as pasture, if you seed it to a suitable "pasture mix and use it for such. I didn't notice that you gave a location---it matters a little bit, btw, with regard to what you wish to do. My suggestion is that you try to get as high a % "tillable" land as possible. Such land has a much wider variety of uses it can be put to. What do you want to do with whatever "hay crop" you get? Are you going to be feeding it to something like say horses, or will this be something you will attempt to sell (and hopefully make a little money on)? As for an 8N, you might also look for an IH 240 or 340U, 300U or 350U tractor. Any of these will be much more capable than an 8N and shouldn't cost any more to buy.
