Thanks All, Looks like I got some great answers. We have to haul our water here ($3/1000gal) so it looks to be cheaper to buy the feed grain. I'm working with 3acres so have limited room. Arizona desert is 30F to 80F during the winter and thats when all the feed lots load up on feeder cattle. The summer heat seams to be just as bad as the winter cold on weight gain as the feed lots drop production during the summers. We do have several dairys close by. I like the idea of rasing two. No comments on steer or heifers so I take it thats not a concern. Hay is around $150/ton. I don't know about grain prices but will check that out. The reason I said corn and wheat, the local farmers seam to raise alot here when cotton prices are in the dumper. We don't have alot of deer here but the Quail eat there fair share. T_Bone
