Just curious what you all think - will antique tractor collection and restoration be a hobby in 50 years? If so, will the tractors still be all pre-70s vintage or will newer tractors enjoy collectible status? One of the replies in the rarest of rare tractors post got me to thinking about this. Here's my opinion - I don't want to step on any toes, but I doubt that anything after 1970 will ever be very collectible. I think that antique tractors as we know them today are so collectible in large part because people love them for having revolutionized our lifes and I think that by 1970 or so they had become taken for granted. I also think that one of the great things about what we know as "antique" tractors today is that there is a lot of variation in design because the industry was still converging on the "perfect" tractor design. For the tractors after 1970 that convergence of design had largely occured and it seems as if one design is largely the same as all the rest. Sorry for the long-winded post. Looking forward to hearing what the rest think!
