My neighbor just got his left hand cut off from his riding mower. He did some work on the tractor and disabled the shut-off switch under the seat. When he backed in a hole and rolled over, the blades kept going and took his hand off. I know it's inconvenient to have those safety switches on your mower, but leave them there. You never know who else may want to use your machine. I use a new snapper and it has all kinds of safety switches. I leave them alone because someday my 9 yr old son may want to mow the lawn.
