I rebuilt the gas engine last year in my Massey Harris 555. It had two new 6v batteries in series to make 12v two yrs ago. I do have a drain which constantly drains the batteries. (I will fix the drain!!) I need to replace the batteries. The engine has a massey service kit with dome pistons. The high compression makes it crank hard. Now that my batteries have been stained. What should I replace them with; one 12v battery? two 6v batteries in series or two 12v in parallel. Does amperage double when the batteries are hooked in series? parallel?
