How long did you drive it, without checking the air filter? I guess I'm old-fashioned, but a little do-it-yourself maintenance, and checking fluids, belts and filters goes a long way, and sometimes we forget that, nowadays! Before you think I'm picking on you, I have to 'fess up. I "killed" a Chevy diesel last year because I depended on the guy that was changing my oil to check the air filter, and replace as necesssary. He didn't, and the panel-type air filter got so dirty, the engine sucked it out of it's rubber frame, and ate pure dust from then on! You can be sure that's the last time something like that will happen to one of my vehicles, and a good lesson for everyone else to check out these things regularly!
