Just sold my 1998 Ford F150 4.2 standard, for $1,800 for parts. The crankshaft was moving hitting a thrust bearing, causing me to need a new motor. Ford wanted 5K, installed with new clutch. This was with 79k miles on it. www.fordf150online, a service manager saw several with this problem at 40k and 70k. Also had key switch replaced for $450 after it failed. Got a notice from Ford that the tie rod ends might fall out, so prior to the motor going, replaced all four at $300. Will shop at the Toyota dealer next time. they have taken the #2 spot from Ford and I know why. Good luck.
