JD 2040 filter problem

My JD2040 hydraulic filter keeps clogging up. I bought this tractor from a dealer and they had just put a new hydraulic pump on it right before I bought it. any ideas what it could be? It will go about 6 hours before the lift and the power steering starts acting up. Both sides of my brakes rattle a little bit when you mash down hard. I don't know if this is normal or not.
