Stan, Yes both trans are good but......Its does depend on your type of farming and useage.
I have put more hours on 4630s, 4640s, & 4840s than I can count. Both.. PSs and Quads! In row crop farming, loader work, and haying.
The Quad will probably be a better in all out plowing and such! But the PS had better versitility in slowing down at end of the row to turn around and head back down the next set of rows. Keeping RPMs high and slow down when a windrow gets heavier for the bailer. Loading round bales on trailers. Its is simplier to shift 1 shifter on a PS, than 2 shifters on a QR.
So...IMO a Power Shift in a Deere is best.

Indy....I beg to differ with you here on this point. A 4440 is (basically a soupped up 4430)
There were presious few 4440 or 4430 in our area. they just didn't make a good 6row tractor probably a better 4 row. A 4440 will just not handle a A&L 650 grain cart. Our 4630/4640 PSs would walk and talk with a full load from the far end of the fields, IN High gear getting back to the trucks, to unload and get back to the combineand catch again on the run. OBTW A 4640 QR on graincart detail is worthless!! No top end power to get to the truck and back again. Not enough ability to use the entire range of grars to speed up and slow down on the Go.
Anyway just some of the short points on the Deers,Also the split from 4 to 5 gear on 4840! Over 1.5 mph split, 4th too slow, 5th toooo fast.
