OT sorta---Ain't it just amazing we're all still

I just read the post on the lawn darts, and it got me thinking. I'm always seeing articles, news stories, posts on here and elsewhere, basically just stuff all over the place where someone has gotten injured or killed because this or that product or machine is "Unsafe". Many of you are older than me so you've probably seen and used more "unsafe products than I have in your lifetime. Based on what I've seen and done in mine all I can say is THANK GOD I'M STILL ALIVE. I played lawn darts, played on merry go rounds, road on tractors with my dad and and grandpa when I was little, road my bike without a helmet (and not always with my hands on the handlebars either), jumped makeshift ramps in the back yard, still ride a three wheeler, went into the woods as a teenager, alone, hunting with a .22 rifle or a shotgun, drank out of a creek without a filter, road in the back of a pickup, road in the back of the family station wagon with my feet hanging out the window, drove/ still drive a vehicle with drum brakes on all 4 wheels, mowed in reverse, let go of the handle on a push mower......and that's just to name a few things. True there are things in the world that are inherently dangerous, heck they say you can drown in a tablespoon of water, but no product, no matter what it is, actually becomes a real danger til it's used in an unsafe manner. I think we need to design a new bumper sticker.......Products don't kill people, people kill themselves with products by being stupid .......True we all do things once in a while that aren't quite that bright, but there is a difference in say letting a push mower handle go setting on flat ground than there is in letting it go when it's on a hill and your downhill from it..... I know this post will probably draw comments both for and against the dumbness of the average person nowdays and that's fine. But to those of you that speek in their defense and don't believe many people are inherently stupid I say read the warning labels that show up nowdays on just about every product made. If there is a warning about something, no matter how stupid it sounds to you, you can be sure at some point in time some idiot tried what their warning against or the warning wouldn't be there.........Just my .02
