Well, the wife and I just moved out onto 20 acres, 3-4 need to be mowed and the rest is woods with trails through them. I'm looking for a tractor that will pull a 6' finishing mower for the yard, 5' bush hog for the trails and have a front end loader along with a box blade for the 600' long drive way. Anyhow, I initially thought I wanted a 8n or 9n but some of my more knowledgeable buddies talked me out of it. Then I started looking at some of the $8,000 compact Yanmars (20 hp at the pto) with a bucket. The tractors are still 20 years old and there might be a problem getting parts. Then we checked out some Mihandra (spelling) compact tractors at a local dealership, about $13,500 for what we wanted (which is what the wife wants since they are new with a warranty). Then I decided I would be best served with a used "real" utility type tractor (30-50hp) with a loader instead of a compact tractor (less expensive than the Mihandra). Most of my time will be spent mowing, clearing paths in the woods, moving dirt and landscaping material around with the bucket. Thoughts from the group? Any older (70's or newer) tractors better than others? Any tractors to try and stay away from? I'm looking to spend between $5,000 and $8,000.. Thanks, Scott
