If you do a search in google for delco alternators and single wire delco alternators, you will find a bunch of information on how to ID a delco alternator and some trouble shooting. I have converted many to one wire delco alternators and in my oppinion this is the way to go......sounds to me that you have an external voltage regulator and it may be bad.... single wire delco alternators have an internal voltage regulator and are very easy to convert to most applications. Lots of "hotrodders" use them when building cars.....
