Replaced out the batteries on my smoke detectors - all 9 of them in the house today. Try to do this yearly at the first of the year. We've had so many tragedies this fall/winter in the area, where the newscaster ends the report with, "smoke detectors weren't working," or "there were no batteries in the smoke detectors," or "the home had no smoke detectors." You all owe it to yourselves to check your detectors often, and replace batteries at least yearly. Note that smoke detectors themselves have a life span and should be replaced every few years. (Maybe one of our fire fighter/contributors can tell me the recommended replacement time.) I found one of mine that was malfunctioning today - replacement as soon's I get to the hardware store next time.
