Last month, my JD 755 started overheating. I didn't notice this situation until I saw the temp light come on. I let it cool down and the next day checked the radiator and found it low and added about 1/2 gallon of antifreeze. Capacity is 1 gallon I believe. I ran it for about 20 min and it started to boil over again. Since I'm a bit mechanically challenged, I sent it off for diagnosis and repair. The thermostat was replaced. Since then I've been very careful about checking the radiator level every time I take it out. I seem to have to add some antifreeze after almost every usage. I usually run it for 1 to 2 hours for mowing and bush hogging. Last week I may have overfilled the radiator. My manual says to only fill it to 1/2 inch below the bottom of the cap. I filled it all the way and about 45 minutes into mowing I noticed the white cloud coming from the engine compartment. Antifreeze was dripping from the overflow tube. Could overfilling have caused this? The next day I filled the radiator and ran it for 45 minutes with no trouble or sign of overheating. Also, is it normal to have to add antifreeze so frequently? The weather was rather hot yesterday when I mowed for about 1 1/2 hours and today when I checked the radiator it was low again. There are no signs of any leaks. No puddles of antifreeze under it. Any insight would be helpful.
