Do you have a contract with the current renter? Many standard rental contracts require you to notify the current renter by registered letter prior to September 1 if you will not be renting to him for the 2007 year. Just as a courtesy, go see him face-to-face and let him know, and then follow up with the letter. Some farmers are already buying inputs for next year, and I"m sure he"d appreciate it if you gave him the heads-up that he wasn"t going to be working your land next year. Just my $0.02
