Has anyone else been having bad experiences with new brake drums being out of round? I made the bad mistake of buying a new set of drums for my '96 Dakota thinking I'd do the right thing and put new ones on instead of turning the old ones.(and I've tossed my old ones) Talk about a mistake. I've bought drums from three different places and they are out of spec. right from the box. The book calls for a max. of .008" out of round and I've got some that are .016" out. The closes I've got is one that is .009". When I step on the brakes, the truck shakes like the dickens unless I really push the peddle down. It for sure is the rear brakes since the same "shakin" happens when I use the e-brake. The drums didn't overheat since I can put a new set of drums on (that measure out of round) and the truck will shake the first time I step on the brakes. I've checked the axles and the hub is straight and true to the world. Also, I rebuilt the rear end with new axles during all of this and it didn't change the shake at all. Sad to say, but I'm about ready to go buy some used drums.

From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
