Bush Hog Ripoff??

I got charged $493 for a gear box assembly for my
'85 Bush Hog. No labor or other items were needed. It is a 60" light duty model. I was told originally that the price would be about $250-$300, but when the bill arrived it was $493.Can anyone tell me if this is about the right price, or did I get taken?
