B.C., My John Deere 1020 has a pressure compensated pump with power steering. I've not experience much of a problem when using the front loader and steering at the same time. I like the system very well compared to the John Deere 2010 that I had. It had a gear pump with open center valving and the power steering worked with a priority flow divider which was a joke. I had to wait until movement stopped on the implement or front loader to steer it. I know that hydro-transmissions have been a problem for tractors with heavy drawbar loads. The heat generation was too great and difficult to dissipate. I wouldn't consider it on an Ag tractor but skid loaders use hydraulics to independently drive the wheels on each side. Again, the skid loaders aren't usually used for long distance drawbar loads and the hydraulic system for driving the wheels seems to be satisfactory. KRM Dayton, OH
