How to rebuild worn backhoe bucket bushing area?

I have a backhoe bucket that I am looking for an easy way out on.. The holes for the bushing are hogged out to almost 2 1/2 inches, but oval by about 1/8. I found a replacement bushing that is approximately 2 3/8 diameter that fits my shaft well. Any ideas for mounting this bushing? I am almost ready to purchase a lathe and make spacers, as anyone I have asked to quote me on this repair has started at $500.00, and thats if I weld the holes back to an undersize before they machine it out to size. I cannot find anything in a standard pipe that will hold these bushings, as everything is too big by enough to make it rattle. HELP!!!!!
