If you want a machine to surf the web & write a few letters, an Apple Mac Minni with your current monitor & maybe keyboard is a cool thing to look at. If the kids demand their new games, or you have special software that needs running, then the Mac, while possible for the new Macs to run Windows, isn't the best deal. All computer manufaturers are having issues, and the machines they turn out are either pricey, or made from lowest-cost components. So you will find all the brands to be kinda similar. Dell has had a long run of being the better low-cost brand, but they have done a bit of restructuring just now & that can change..... I would hang on, my self, for another 6 months & let the bugs work out of Vista. It is a major thing, & I bet there is a ton of issues with compatability. New drivers, a bit of programming from all the printer, scanner, keyboard makers, etc. Just all takes time, why be on the leading edge of that sort of thing. Don't know that I helped you much I guess..... --->Paul
