I've got 40 big brood cows I'm running in a 20x50 slant roof open sided. Are you ever planning to add any more? I think I'd go 20x20 or so. Get it deep enough for them to get back in it. Open it straight south,not south east. Nothing worse than a storm from the east.I wouldn't worry about too much gravel as long as its built on high ground with a slight slope running away from it.You'll be amazed just how little time they'll spend in there. They'll spend more time laying around the round bale feeder.
