Some folks here call the nickle rods cast rods. But I use the regular cast rods. They are labeled Cast Rods.
They work well on engine blocks and these ever cracking 6 cylinder Chevy exh manifolds. If you can heat the block up with a torch you get a smoother flow, and easier penetration. If its close to the cam bushings or a gasket face don't preheat.
But as far as strength you don't have to preheat it, I do it for appearance.
