gee, my 8N ran great two weeks ago

This is a long posting but please bear with me, I'm hoping to cover any possible questions. Two weeks ago, in preparing for possible snow, I drained the tank, refilled with fresh gas, charged the battery, disassembled the carb and cleaned it...and fired up my 1950 Ford 8n. It ran WAY too fast for the first 25 seconds because the throttle linkage popped off the carb but I replaced it and it purred like a kitten. I drove it about 30 feet and parked it, confident it would start first try when I needed to clear the driveway of snow. Well, we had that snow this week...and no dice. I tried and tried but all it would do is crank over. Placed the charger on and recharged the battery...pulled 2 plugs and yes, I have spark. I even pulled all 4 plugs and squirted gas directly in the cylinders...no dice. I've used two cars of starting fluid, going so far as to pull the carb and squirt it directly into the intake manifold. I've always belived that if you had spark and fuel, it HAD to start...well, it doesn't. Could running the engine on full throttle at startup have caused this? If you place your hand over the intake manifold and crank the engine, it does draw against your hand...so I assume the valves as operating well enough to at least fire. The engine just sits there and cranks...no sound of it even 'trying' to fire...Most engine cures require you have the engine running to figure out the problem...so I'm at a loss. If anyone can advice me, it would be great help...thanks in advance.
