I am in the market for a used tractor for my hobby farm of 30 acres. Originally I was in the market for an 8 speed diesel powered Ford 4000 or Ford 5000. Since some of my land is sloped, tends to get a bit muddy and this will be my only tractor, I am now leaning more toward a front wheel assist model instead of a two wheel drive. I am looking for recommendations for a decent used diesel 50+HP front wheel assist tractor. I have access to both New Holland and John Deere dealerships in my area. I will be looking to mount a loader on this tractor. Also are there any things to stay away from in the models which you suggest (i.e. for instance I was staying away from 12 speed select-o-speed Ford 4000/5000 tractors). I am looking for a tractor that is easy to maintain and get parts for. For the money I would rather get a decent used older tractor than a newer gray market tractor. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. regards Mark
