I preparing to purchase a new brush hog. I'm looking at either a JD or Bush Hog brand. I'm interested in a pull type in either 8 or 10 foot cutting width. I'll be using a JD 5105 40 HP tractor. The dealers have told me that I can pull either the 8 or 10 foot models. I'll be pasture clipping fescue, weeds, and an occasional clump of multiflora rose. I normally set my cutting height about 1/2 knee high. I don't want to buy too much brush hog for my tractor, but I do want cover my pastures as quickly as I can. I still have a 6 foot El Cheapo model for heavier cutting. I'm interested in your opinions about whether my tractor will pull either unit, which cutting width would better serve me, and which brand (JD or Bush Hog) you think is better. Thanks for your patience and your opinions.
