Sorry, It is, or was, our 98 Jetta and the owners manuel says to change the timming belt every 60K miles not every 40K, my bad. It is an interfernence engine. If the timming belt breaks the pistons will hit the valves, causing the car to become junk. Your claim, that you you maintained this thing, and changed the timing belt, the pulleys, and the gaskets for $30 is absurd! To say someone lied is harsh, but you are not telling the truth. Why don't you tell us, never mind the pullies, where we can get a timing belt and the gasket kit for $39 .
