Breaking Hydraulic Pump Shafts

I have a 1969/70 model 3444 International Harvester diesel tractor with a 3121 backhoe attachment. I am having trouble with the shaft that runs from the fan pulley to the hydraulic pump. This shaft keeps snapping into two pieces. We have tried many things and can't seem to find out what is causing it. It mainly happens when the loader bucket is used. I was told that a pressure relief valve might be stuck, but I can't even find one. I did find hydraulic fluid squirting out of the top of the place where the hydraulic fluid is added, beside the gear shifter. There is a small hole drilled in it. Then I was told that it might be a frozen pin. I was also told that it may even have something to do with the type of hydraulic fluid that I use. I use AW-32. I replaced the aluminum pump with a cast iron one that was built to the same rating. Could this have an effect on it? Also, the pump and fan are in a straight line and there is no binding. So, can anyone tell me what causes these shafts to break? Also, does anyone know what type of hydraulic fluid and engine oil it takes? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike
